Several road projects will soon be under way locally.
An Illinois Department of Transportation representative was present at Monday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting to discuss installing new flashing yellow arrows and pedestrian crossing lights.
The flashing yellow arrow is for two locations, primarily the intersection of Lafayette and University where visibility is low. These were previously installed near Bradley University and numbers now show a 30 percent reduction in traffic accidents.
McDonough County will also see more construction. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn announced Monday one of the largest early–season construction programs in the state’s history.
The list includes a $5 million project for milling and resurfacing US 67 near Good Hope to the Warren County line.
