Multiple charges filed in local law enforcement’s fight against drugs

Macomb Police DepartmentThe McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and Macomb Police Department say a joint effort helped net illegal drugs, prescription pills and hundreds of dollars.

A total of 48 charges were filed after multiple traffic stops over the course of three Fridays in April. Authorities say 76 vehicles were stopped on the three major routes leading into Macomb on April 12, 19, and 26. The focus of the effort was to stop the flow of illegal narcotics into the area.

 

Authorities seized:

  • a total of 364 grams of cannabis
  • 1 gram of MDMA
  • .5 gram of cocaine
  • 4 adderall pills
  • $787 in currency.
  • 6 vehicles were impounded

Six state charges for possession of drug paraphernalia, three state charges for possession of cannabis 2.5 grams to 10 grams and three charges of possession of controlled substance were filed after these investigations.
