WIU students are making their voices heard regarding the state budget impasse. WIU’s Inter-Hall Council started an email-a-thon last week to help push funding for higher education and to help pass a state budget. It will continue on through tomorrow from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Computers will be set up in the University Union with a pre-written email that students can send to their local legislator.
IHC Vice President Kelly Rodgers spoke to NEWS3 about why this event is important. She said, “Well it benefits because it lets the representatives and senators know that we care and that we’re paying attention to what’s going on and so by flooding their email, this tells them that it’s important to us and that we want it passed.” If you want to participate in the email-a-thon, you can go to the University Union tomorrow from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
