Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Tri-States Region

A wWinter Weather Advisory is in effect for all of the Tri-States Region starting at 9 PM tonight and lasting until 6 PM Sunday. New forecast model runs out today have been more aggressive with the snowfall accumulations. Some are predicting around 6-7 inches of snow in some areas. I honestly feel they’re being a little to aggressive with the amounts, but this is a sign that lots of snow is on the way. I am sticking with 4-6 inches as my forecast for the affected areas. The accumulations will be less the further south and west you go. Winds will be sustained out of the South at 10-15 MPH tonight and lasting through the day Sunday. Gusts could reach up to 25 MPH at times. Even though the winds are out of the south and will usher in some warmer air, the wind chills will still be real low with the cold air present. They will be near 0 at times so please make sure to bundle up when you venture out. Hypothermia and frostbite can occur in minutes under very cold and windy conditions. After this system passes, forecast models are hinting at another system moving through the region during the Monday night into Tuesday time frame. I’m not releasing any accumulations for that system as it’s just to soon to make that prediction. I’llĀ release numbersĀ as we get closer. In the mean timStay safe and stay tuned!
