Maple Syrup Festival teaches public how syrup is made

COLCHESTER, Illinois (NEWS3) – Its a sticky, yet sweet process.

The 22nd Annual Maple Syrup Festival was held at Argyle Lake State Park on Saturday where the community came together to learn about maple syrup.

It all starts from a tree that has sap in it, which needs to be collected first.

It takes 40 gallons of sap to make one syrup. The rest of the 39 gallons cook off as steam.

People of all ages got a taste of sweetness and even children got to be a part of the action.
