Townhouse “total loss” after fire west of Macomb Sunday

MACOMB, Illinois (NEWS3) – A townhouse just west of Macomb is being called a “total loss” after a fire Sunday.
The Emmet-Chalmers Fire Protection District responded to a fire at a townhouse on South Yorktown Road at the Georgetown Homeowners Association around 10:45 p.m.
Fire Chief David Estes said when crews arrived there were heavy flames coming from the back of the townhouse and through the roof causing extensive damage.
The owner and her cat were able to get out safely.
Multiple area fire departments were called in to assist due to the size of the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
