MACOMB Ill. (NEWS3) — A local comic book store recently moved to a familiar location on the Macomb downtown square.
The building, which was previously the comic book store, A Boy and His Tiger, is now home to Kapow ’66 Comics, Toys & Collectibles, owned by Monte Anderson and his wife.
“I’ve known this building forever and I always liked the location of it, and I just enjoy the square in general,” Anderson said.
Anderson said Kapow ’66 is restocking the shelves with comic books due to the increasing interest of the community.
“We are getting more and more people coming and asking us to order certain comics for them,” Anderson said. “So there is still huge demand for paper comics.”
The new location isn’t the only change happening to the store.
“We are going to start doing some gaming in the back sections here,” Anderson said. “So we’ll be doing Dungeon and Dragons one night, we’ll be doing Magic the Gathering one night and then we may have one night where it is a free for all.”
Anderson said he focuses on great customer service to retain Kapow ’66 customers.
“We definitely take care of people,” Anderson said “We’ve got our customer base we started with a online presence, and we built up from there. We still have those same loyal customers online and we’ve gained a lot more locally as well.”
Kapow ’66 is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday’s closing time is 6 p.m., while Saturday’s is 4 p.m.
