MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) – A local support service wants to help cancer patients feel better about themselves.
The Western Illinois Regional Council provides a free wig and turban to cancer patients. WIRC has been offering the Wig and Turban program for more than 20 years.
“Losing your hair is one of the hardest parts of chemo,” program coordinator Teresa Cadle said.
The program relies on public donations in order for the program to continue to help. Currently, WIRC said they are in need of turbans. Not only does the program accept new or gently used wigs and turbans but brassieres and silicone breast as well.
If you are interested in aiding through a monetary donation the donation can be mailed or brought to the WIRC located at 223 South Randolph Street. Anyone in need of a free wig or turban should call 309- 837- 2997 to make an appointment.
