MACOMB, Ill (NEWS3) — This weekend will kick off a popular event celebrating the longstanding success of agriculture at Western Illinois University.
The 50th annual Ag Mech Farm Expo will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Western Hall on Western Illinois University’s campus.
The event is free to the public and gives agriculture vendors a chance to display their products and connect with the Macomb community. Children’s events will include bounce houses, face painting, and balloon-making.
This year’s event will include a new addition called “Grain to Glass,” which gives visitors the opportunity to sample products from local breweries and vineyards. Free will donations will be accepted.
There will also be a dinner Saturday night in the University Union Heritage Room to celebrate the 100th anniversary of WIU’s Department of Agriculture. A cocktail hour will take place a 5 p.m., and the dinner will take place at 6 p.m. Follow the event on Facebook for updates and details.
