MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3)– McDonough District Hospital announced the opening of a newly-designed obstetrics department.
The ‘Dolores Kator Switzer Women’s Center’ is comprised of three labor, delivery, and recovery suites, seven postpartum recovery suites, and another suite for triage, postpartum or postsurgical gynecological patients.
MDH President & CEO, Brian Dietz, said many people played a role in the project’s completion.
“We say thank you to everyone involved with the Dolores Kator Switzer Women’s Center. Our construction teams and staff members worked hard during the initial move to the second floor, during construction, and now in preparation to open the obstetrics department,” Dietz said. “None of this would have happened though without the generosity and support of many people, starting with Dick Switzer’s lead gift, and our area businesses and community members who donated to this amazing project.”
The center provides more than 4,800 square feet of new building space and 7,200 square feet of redesigned space for digital imaging and obstetrics areas. In addition, the DKSWC offers a play area for children, an OB waiting area and a meeting room that will host a variety of childcare classes.
According to MDH, final work on the DKSWC will wrap up within the next couple of weeks. For more information, visit the hospital’s website.
