MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Macomb Public Library is set to close for a week to take precautions surrounding the coronavirus outbreak.
Library officials posted on Facebook the closure will take place from Monday, March 16 to March 21.
Library staff said they are following recommendations from local authorities, including the McDonough County Health Department and the Illinois State Library.
“The closure is in place to practice Social Distancing (reducing contact from person to person or among groups) in trying to control the spread of COVID-19,” library staff said.
Macomb Public Library staff said they will continue to monitor information from the Illinois Department of Public Health and the McDonough County Health Department on any new updates that could impact the library’s operations.
Staff said any books that are due during the closure period will not be assessed a fine. Books can be returned and dropped off in the book drop during the closure period.
