Hancock Co. suspends visitations to jail

HANCOCK CO., Ill. (NEWS3) — Officials in Hancock County are taking action like so many other counties in Illinois to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger said in a press release, the county is suspending all in-house visitations to the county jail effective immediately.

Bentzinger said there are no known cases of COVID-19 among the staff or anyone in the facility. Instead, these precautions are recommendation by the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The sheriff is also asking the public to limit their interactions in the lobby of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. If you have an emergency, call 911. If you need assistance with other non-emergency issues, call 217-357-2115.
