WIU BOT cancels March meeting due to COVID-19

MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — Days after Western Illinois University extended its spring break and moved classes to alternative format until April 3 due to COVID-19, officials announced the March Board of Trustees meeting is cancelled.

WIU Board of Trustees Chair Polly Radosh said if the pandemic has not subsided by May 1, the March meeting will be permanently cancelled.

Students are currently on their second week of spring break, and will return to classes via alternative format on Monday. As of right now, the university says officials will make a decision before April 3 if the campus will return to traditional in-person classroom instruction.

During the March BOT meeting, the board was supposed to vote on an increase in student fees. Earlier this month, the Student Government Association voted to increase fees by $1.91.
