COLCHESTER, Ill. (NEWS3) — The COVID-19 threat is forcing the City of Colchester to take action out of abundance of caution to the public.

Mayor Francie Welch announced the city hall building, located at 500 E Roberts St., will be closed to the public for the rest of the month. This takes effect Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Welch said city employees will continue working normal hours and can be reached for city-related business.

Officials said the drop box at city hall is available to pay water bills and accept Summer Ball forms. At this time, the city will not waive any late fees.

All upcoming city meetings are canceled until the April 6 city council meeting.

Residents with any questions or concerns can contact Colchester City Clerk Donna Wetzel between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at 309-776-3005.
