MCDONOUGH CO., Ill. (NEWS3) — Riders taking the local transit system can expect new safety measures in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Go West Transit posted on Facebook, its buses will have some seats taped off in order to maintain social distancing. People are asked to not sit in seats that are marked off.

Transit officials said there also may be certain instances that buses may be at capacity to keep people safe. Go West vehicles will display “at capacity” on the front of the bus to show it is not able to take anymore passengers, so expect stops to be passed by.

“We realize that is an inconvience but it is vital that we do our part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Go West Transit staff said. “As always, we greaty appreciate your support and understanding.”

The transportation system also asks for riders to only enter and exit through the rear of the vehicle to limit the amount of potential exposure to drivers.

Go West vehicles will still have a ramp and kneeling of the bus available for passengers if needed.
