MACOMB, Ill. (NEWS3) — With the coronavirus taking a toll on businesses, local officials are wanting residents to show their support for small businesses this week.

The Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce is partnering with chambers across Illinois to join the “I’L’ove Local” campaign in hopes to get the public to stay home and shop local now through Saturday.

“Our local businesses are the heart and soul of Macomb,” Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lauren Meritt said. “It is more important than ever to show our support for the many stores, restaurants, and businesses that make this a great place to live and there are ways to do this while staying home and keeping everyone safe.”

Due to the pandemic, the Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives are making efforts to collaborate with chambers across the state to avoid the decline of sales after a natural disaster.

Meritt said due to the stay-at-home order, find out if your local store will allow online purchasing for items, follow the social distancing and isolation guidelines, select takeout and delivery, take online virtual classes and stay updated with the chamber links or directories.
