KNOX CO., Ill. (NEWS3) — One local county health department is reporting its first case of an infant testing positive for COVID-19.
Knox County Health Department said a female under the age of one has the virus. Officials said she is one of five new cases the county is reporting. Knox County’s newest cases include:
- Male in his 40s
- Female in her 50s
- Male in his 40s
- Female in her 30s
- Female under one year
“Public health officials are working to identify and actively monitor individuals who were in
direct contact with the residents in an effort to reduce the risk of additional transmission,” health staff said.
Other area counties are also reporting new coronavirus cases. Warren County reported a five new cases which includes one woman between the ages of 20-40, two women between the ages of 40-60, one man between the ages of 20-40 and a man between the ages of 40-60.
Hancock County reported three additional cases Thursday. The county’s sixth case is a woman in her 20s to 30s. She was tested outside of Hancock County. Officials believe the case is connected to another known COVID-19 case. The seventh case is a man in his 60s to 70s and the county’s eighth case is a woman in her 50s to 60s. The health department does not believe the case seven and eight are related to any other case. All of the residents are recovering at home.
McDonough County also announced more coronavirus cases, including a third outbreak at a residential facility. The McDonough County Health Department said its four new cases includes two women in their 20s, a man in his 20s and a woman in her 70s. The county also reported an outbreak at Heartland Health Care Center nursing home Thursday. On top of this news, Western Illinois University officials said one of its students has tested positive for COVID-19. The school said the student was living off campus and is now self isolating. This is the first WIU student confirmed with coronavirus.

- Warren County: 62 positive, 117 negative and unknown pending
- Fulton County: 3 positive (1 recovered), 129 negative, unknown pending
- Knox County: 47 positive, 290 negative, 120 pending
- Adams County: 40 positive (25 recovered), 1 death, 1,065 negative, 111 pending
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 52,918 total coronavirus cases Thursday and 2,355 deaths. The state saw 2,563 new cases and 141 additional deaths Thursday.
